Art Concept

At various stages I have tried to explain the concept of my art

Here are a few of them

"Colourful, expressive, abstract paintings have more than meets the eye at first glance. Hidden amongst the layers of paint figurative subjects and script written prose are hidden, giving an insight to thoughts or messages behind the paintings.

I use explosions of colours to create that moment of thought, that instant in time, leaving the onlookers to explore and discover the meaning from within themselves."

"Fusion of colour, shape, light and space in a layering of interpretation of memories, which includes landscape and abstract styles in oils, acrylics and watercolours"

The fusion of colour, shape, light and space combined with our emotions and memories make each of us what we are.
This work is an exploration of art materials but also of my journey through life.
It is a very personal interpretation of the way my memories and emotions are evoked by light, space, texture and colour.
Beware! Without memory who would we be? Would we have an identity?
However, memories deceive as layers of more recent memories blur with older ones, obscuring the deeper underlying truths of life!.

"Mutilation of the female form is the concept behind my art. The abstraction, impairment, defacement, destruction and distortion of the female body is an age-old tradition and in many cultures, including our own. This can be seen to be brutal or fashionable, but still have ongoing psychological and physical repercussions. My art is an abstracted version of the subliminal layering of emotion, memory and its resulting distortion over time in relation to this mutilation. The colour and on occasion lack of it, as well as my combination of media used in painting, printing and videography, add to the involvement of layering and emotional passion."
